I started on my artistic path with a Pentax k1000 around my neck and a bag full of slide film by my side. I found my space behind the lens, and over two decades later, it is still my favorite place to be. Photography was the gateway to expand my artistic endeavors, but it is also the touchstone to which I always return.
The medium has evolved, and the evolution to digital hasn’t been easy for a girl who loves the darkroom, film and using my loupe on a light table. Still, the advantages of instant gratification of a digital camera are both wonderful and overwhelming. Although the light table has been replaced by the computer screen, the nuances in each image are thrilling to look through for me. There are so many images to edit!
Despite my digital challenges – coming back to photography is like putting on my favorite pair of jeans. Photography is comfortable and something I always want to have in my life. It is also the touchstone to which I always return.
