Stolen

I know I’ve been absent from blogging for a while (it’s summer, what do you expect?) so I have returned.  Unfortunately with some not so great news. Last Friday night my laptop and camera equipment (not all of it, thank goodness!) was stolen out of my car. My rear passenger window was smashed and only one bag was taken… the expensive one.  Sigh… I know better than to leave my #1 camera body and lens and flash AND computer in the car, but I got too relaxed about it.  Luckily everything is replaceable and my computer was backed up (thank you Time Machine!) but the logistics in dealing with the insurance company is just a hassle.  Please note: this is not a “poor me” post, I just wanted to update you all on life on the ground here.  A more positive post to come soon… as believe it or not, I’m a positive person.

I feel so bad for you – what a drag. You are the second person this week I know who has had their car window smashed in – the other was in NYC. Fiona had her window busted out a year ago or so…..
    Take care -

Oh Sara! Just get right back out there! Consider this…here in South Africa, we (luckily not me) are IN the car when this happens and often passengers are sitting with a gun to their heads while they grab bags, jewellry and so on – usually at traffic lights. So the bright side is, YOU were not harmed and all those things can be replaced – they are just ‘stuff’. I loved your mail re the orientation – I missed you all so much over the past month or so! It’s cold here, and I have been so envious of all my orientation friends Facebook messages about their summer jaunts. Who knows – one day our paths may cross again in this wonderful world!

    Keep well dear Sara.

    Fond regards,
    Heidi

Oh no!!! That sucks. I’m glad you’re okay and I hope things get sorted with the insurance company soon. How annoying/frustrating!!

Fortunately it was only things, unfortunately it was important things. Yes, you are a positive person who blogs about such bad experience and I am sure you will rebound quickly. Good luck with the insurance company, they are a necessary evil. Carolyn
